AVON — Simsbury moms Jane Costello and Karin Lefranc have combined their
shared interest in improving the lives of children and parents by
opening a new business, The Firefly Center, in Old Avon Village. A grand
opening celebration is scheduled for Friday, June 3 from 12-5 p.m.
The
firefly name came about, as the slogan in their logo states, “because
we’re lighting the way for parents and kids,” Lefranc said. “It’s also
about one’s inner light.”
The center opened in March and has been offering classes for both children and parents.
Children’s
classes include yoga, manners classes and acting classes, the latter
through a partnership with The Hartford Children’s Theatre. While
children are in class, parents can sit and relax in another room at the
center, where they can help themselves to coffee or tea.
Parents
can also take classes such as infant and child CPR, expectant parents
can enjoy prenatal yoga, and there’s a support group for new moms who
come with their babies.
The center also offers Love & Logic® Parenting Series classes taught by Costello.
